SCP RPG 2

The sequel's never as good as the original

After SCP RPG got popular, I had decided to work on a sequel... Though this fell through.
I had tried doing a sequel in MZ. I wasn't happy with the quality of the beginning bits. I had re-used RTP from MZ and just decided to go with jarring visuals overall.
Nothing says jarring like hand-drawn pixel art overlayed ontop of RTP of a completely different art-style. The joke was gonna be that the "REAL WORLD" was RTP.
Though, from my point of view, even a joke isn't an excuse for poor visual design. Its bad craftsmanship and only someone extremely skilled in visual design can make it work.
When I got into RPGMaker 2003, I had decided for funsies to remake the sprites from SCP RPG into 2003's limited tile sizes and character sets.
I ended up remaking the sprites and making them look way more stylized and unique looking in 2003's engine.
For a while I thought I was gonna do a sequel in 2003. But, another issue came up. I'm not very good at tilesets.
If you ever played SCP RPG, the tilework is definitely my weakest aspect. Having to redo a ton of tiles. From scratch, even. That's a lot of work for me.
Not only that but I often ask myself if its worth doing a project like this full-time when I could be doing a lot of other things.
I had also planned for a spiritual successor to SCP RPG. But it was... Creepypastas! With Jeff the Killer, Slenderman, etc etc.
This wasn't something I came up with much later, I had an inkling of an idea for this back when I conceptualized SCP RPG.
A joke SCP game... A joke Creepypasta game... And then a third game where both worlds collide. It would've been a funny parody of both Creepypastaland and the MCU.
Of course, as you might've guessed... I didn't end up doing this.

These screenshots above are from the latest attempt at SCP 2. The one done in RPGMaker 2k3.
The title screen is a repurposed/bitcrushed version of the one in MZ.
